Beginning.
So, this is the beginning. Two sides are clashing, and it's up to me to stop it. Or is it? Because I'm running from it, unlike most people. This war that stretches throughout this world. Though some others think like me, are SMART like me. They no there's no point of it. Welcome to the world where anyone can exist, or No one.

I looked up at the sky, full of explosions. Mentally blocking the sound out, I ran. The war of creation itself of breaking this world apart as it had many others, and I did not want any part of it. I streaked away into a nearby forest, my grey eyes a-glow.

"Hide! they'll kill you!" My mother hissed at me through gritted teeth. I knew her anger came from fear for me and my sister, but she was going about it in the wrong way. With hardly a goodbye, She locked the trap door above out heads and we were stuck underneath the smelly, overgrown house inside the floor. I followed my mother through the slitted wooden floor, watched as they barged in like nobodys business and interrogated her. I couldn't understand a word they were saying in their strange language of clicks and whistles, but obviously my mother did, screaming and howling in pain while they tortured her.

Shouldering my backpack i ran, away from those, forcing me to do something i wasnt ment to do. There was a loud boom as I felt hot embers bite at my skin like red ants my world was suddenly a bright hot blaze of pain and confusion. I desperatly tried to twist out of the targeted area. Miraculously, when I landed, I was on my feet, but my skin was irritated and burned. I looked in my backpack, it was still there, safely sleeping on my sweater "Just you and me." I told him, and kept running

ReplyDeleteI ran deeper into the forest, which was alive with sounds. Who knew how others were feeling? Were any running, like me? I didn't know. In my head, part of me whined, wanting to run into battle and fight, but my part did not. If my eyes changed black, and I turned back into Kahn, I was sure I would change direction back to the capitol, to the center of the war.
ReplyDeleteIt would be fun. Kahn said in my head, but I shook my head to ignore it, leaning against a tree and panting as I was a good mile in.

A loud stomp above my head betrayed anger from them. I heard a high-pitched whining getting louder and louder, and a large boom as they fired their guns. I had to cover my mouth with my hand to stop myself from screaming out loud and slumped to the floor, closing my eyes and letting out silent, open mouthed sobs. I opened my eyes to see Freare Crawling towards me, her eyes threatening to spill over with tears. I heard the snuffles as they searched the house, then retreating footsteps as they left. We waited a good hour before we dared to even crawl out of the house.
ReplyDeleteWithout a word i grabbed Freare's hand and pulled her quickly away from my house. I heard a shout and the whining noise again, and ducked a second before a red beam of light shot inches over my head. Had I not ducked and there would be a clean hole in the center of my head. I pushed Freare harder and ran faster, knowing we had to get out before we were both slaughtered.

I tried to keep running but my burnt legs were threatening to collapse. I'd been running for days.

"I'm trying!" I screamed, but my world slipped out from under me and I fell, onto the cold, dirty ground. I could feel him crawl out of my backpack and press against my side, healing my burns and giving me warmth.

I felt a violent tremor, and excitement pulsed through me. My vision blurred and darkened, and I knew what was happening. Kahn was taking over. Franticly squirmed down until i was sitting with my back up against the tree, and conjured chains that wraped around my wrists and dug themselves into the ground.

I felt another light go beside my right thigh. they weren't good at aiming, but i realized we needed to get out of here, and fast. I Closed my eyes and felt my position relax until i was running on all fours, my legs straining to go faster but my mind telling me to stay until Freare had clambered onto my back. With a snarl i lunged forward, sending the world behind me in a flurry of blurry vision and loud voices from one hundred yards away. I pushed myself harder, not for me but for my sister, and ran on ahead, heading not for the desert but the forest where i lived, knowing that there were people to take care of my little sister until i could come back and get her.

I woke up stretching, my burns were completly healed and little Ziron was fast asleep, his red and golden scales were gleaming in the sun. I wrapped him in my cream and orange sweater and slipped him back in my backpack. Suddenly a silver knife flew above my head. Slowly, I turned and saw an old friend

I pulled and scratched the chains with all my might, but they wouldn't come lose.
ReplyDelete"I'm trapped!" I growled. "And the War is going on without me? How can I fight for my side chained up like this?" I said angrily, furiously trying to pull away from the tree.
Stop fighting it.Roi said inside my head, and I rolled my eyes.

I kept running, but Poe was pursiuing behind me, I closed my eye "Come Forth, spirit." I whispered. I opened my eyes, knowing they were completely white now, I leapt with ease to a tree, pulling out my silver bow, one of Poe's minions, a blue, monsterous creature with curled fingers and flesh, that if touched, ripped one's spirit from thier body. I knotched the arrow, aiming for his head "Riders, past Spirits, guide me." I released the arrow, thinking about mother, and auntie, they had died... for what? this. This Stupid war. My father... the king of shadows. He wouldn't help. Ryder.... Ryder and Sefey, I needed to find them, Ryder was the only person I could depend on. He was still alive, I knew it, my crystal hadnt shattered. With the spirits of my ancestors guiding me, I released my arrow. It soared, with tenfold strength, and destroyed the Minion, it shatttered, like glass, peices of minion lodged in the tree I was sitting in. I shot five more arrows, killing four more, the fifth ran back, probably to Poe, to report that his buddies had died

How could you fight in a war that the elders prophesied that we would end? Roi's voice spoke up in my head.
ReplyDelete"The king was about to make me a member of his royal guard!" I said, the last words were growled because my teeth had just sharpened and lengthened to canine-like fangs.
He didn't want you for your skill or loyalty, Kahn! He wanted you for what you could do. And that's pretty low, turning into a wolf. You could do better than that. Roi commented.
I sighed/growled, leaning against a tree, gasping with pain as slowly the animal features that were starting to show turned back into human, and my black eyes glittered with grief.

"Yea. And Ryder, They're our only hope of getting out of here." I clutched the sparkling crystal on my neck. He had given it to me when we first ran from the war, he told me, if it shattered, something had happened to him and he needed me to run as fast as I could. I unwillingly agreed.

ReplyDeleteI toppled over and over, Arcana's name flashing through my mind. I was holding her tightly against me. I felt my top rip, and a wing slip through the hole. I cursed, and leaped to my feet, continuing to run. I folded my wing back up against my back. I jumped as a bomb exploded behind me, avoiding the shock that ran through the ground. I looked down at Arcana, who was looking between my fingers. Her soft feathers brushing my skin. I fell down again as something slammed into my head. I looked up dazed, to see a gun pointed at my face. I stood up slowly, then jumped. My other wing sliced through my top, tearing it off. I pushed my foot into the guy's head, and jumped. Is this how it would be from now on?

I realized that Kahn's grip on my mind was slowly fading, as were the chains I conjured. But Kahn had taken his toll, and I was exhausted. Not to mention my wrists were bruised and bloody and almost rubbed raw.

I breathed heavily and quickly climbed up a tree. My legs burned with aches and heat from the bombs. I rubbed then as Arcana watched. She was thinner then she usually was, what, with not being able to find any food. Arcana trilled softly, her silver eyes sad. I smiled.
ReplyDelete"We'll get out of here. We'll find some place safe. We better get moving though. Then we can rest."
I picked Arcana up again, and she nestled against my bare chest. I leaped to the ground softly, looked around, then ran. As I started running, the tree I was just in exploded.

As I was running I realized fire sprites were running around the forest, setting some trees on fire. They thoroughly supported the war, which I didn't care about since I was neutral. But they weren't on Kahn's side. My eyes darkened from grey to black again and I bared my teeth, running at them in spite of the raging fires and sunk my newly formed claws, in them. The small humanoid fire seemed to turn black with ash as my shadowy claws leaked darkness into it, and it shattered into a thousand fragments, in which I growled in satisfaction, made out of living shadow.

I woke up, my back was stinging. I stretched my wings carefully, and they felt okay. I quickly folded them up again. It would not be good if a bullet went through one. I got up and knelt. My back was raw and bloody. I winced, and looked around for Arcana. She lay a few feet from me. I crawled over to her, worry fogging my mind. I found her awake, but her back leg was like my back. I tore of a piece of my jeans, and rapped it around her leg, before picking her up again. I saw a forest near by. Fires were starting in it, but there might still be some food. I got up stiffly, and ran towards it.

The fire sprites flitted and flickered.
ReplyDeleteOne of them crackled, "It's General Kahn!" They scattered in fear up the burning trees, and i clawed my way up there, the shadow demon's wings on my back helping me like a bat's would. I snatched up another one and it did the same as the first, and leaped to the other tree and went on a rampage.

I froze as I heard something. I shook it off, and sniffed the air. A few animals still stayed, hiding. I leaped into the trees, put Arcana into a hollow, and leaped onto another branch, grabbing a squirrel. The squirrel let out a short squeal before I broke it's neck. I climbed back to Arcana, and dropped the squirrel in front of her. She trilled happily, sending images of sunny, perfect times to me. I smiled sadly and watched her eat. I could last longer without food. I was older. I stiffened as I heard something again, this time closer.

I knew my mind was already threatening to go back into Roi, but I kept on. I was too far away from human at the moment to even hear Roi's voice.
ReplyDelete"You will loose this war! You cannot win against the country of Seishin!" I bellowed, and the fire Sprites kept fleeing. I clung on to the tree, my black eyes glittering in triumph.

I hissed softly and looked around as I heard the voice. Keeping my back to Arcana.

I hopped down from the tree, the fire fleeing with the fire sprites. The trees were scorched, but I touched one of the trees and with a glowing light they started to heal. The shadow demon was slowly surrendering, but still remained.

Arcana tilted her head, and images of a shadowy figure popped into my head. She wanted to know too.

I seemed to step into view, but around someone else I was surprised, and the darkness seemed to shed off me, my eyes turned silver, and I was back to human form, gasping. Kahn snarled in my head.

I picked my way through the rubble that was the kingdom of Machi.
This must of been the work of the Seishin. I thought, gazing at the ruins. And wherever there's the Seishin, there will be Kahn. I thought. I willed myself to be on the outskirts of Seishin, then plunged into the nearby forest. That's what I was doing, tracking Kahn. My demon's brother.

I kept running, Father now knew minions wouldn't kill me, wouldn't make me join his side on the war. He was gonna send out the big guns, Poe and his Acid Dragon, then I was in trouble. I had to get out of here, I had to find Ryder.

I saw someone out of the corner of my eye, grabbing my silver, diamond hilted hunting knife and wielded in front of him tired of this game I asked "Did Poe send you? Tell him to tell Father, Ziron and I arent Fighting in this wretched war!!"

"Yea, comforting." I sighed, sitting down, out of my backpack I pulled out a mango, the last of my food. With my hunting knife, it peeled it, and cutting around the pit, I gave half to Daku "Hungry?" I asked, taking a bite of my half, savoring the sweet, tangy flavor on my tongue. Ziron took a bite too, a large one at that, I tapped his nose "We are sharing Z!"

I nodded "Well, my father, he says I had potential to be the strongest Rider out there and that I would lead troups of our allies, the Lizard men, into battle. One boy, he was turned, unwillingly into a lizard man. I was planning to run away from the war with him," my eyes were feeling perticularly watery "My father was furious, he was going to do what he did to my mother, and my aunt, tear my spirit from my body. The boy... he took my place and... as he lay there, dying... I gave him some of my spirit, and, he left his old body, becoming somewhat of a human again, his lizard curse took the form of a pet lizard, Sefey. But now, he is caught between the living and the dead, and, we were attacked, seperated. That's why I'm running, I need to find Ryder, the boy, and... find someway to get his old spirit back. See, the lizard people are made whenever a rider's spirit is ripped from the body, he sets it adrift in the wind and forces the spirit of a lizard into their body, they are mindless, do whatever he says. My mother is one now. But Ryder... his spirit hadn't comepletly drained when he was turned into a lizard, so I'm trying to find his spirit, to help his become whole again. He will still be, somewhat of a living spirit, but, at least..." I sighed, playing with the crystal on my neck "You don't want to here this... I just... had to get it out, I've been alone only with Ziron... for so long,"

ReplyDelete"It's okay. I completely understand. I didn't want to be a half-demon, but I was forced to." He said, his eyes suddenly turned black, and I willed myself to turn into Akuma, and I looked the same though my eyes were black.
"Hey, I thought you enjoyed it!" I exclaimed, and could've sworn that Daku rolled his eyes in my head.

"And this is Arcana I guess. I was told to take her and her brother. In case the race was killed off. So, when they reproduce, well, you can use any male for the eggs. Because, all you need is a feather. It's not like inbreeding or anything, because then the baby is made completely of the mother's genes. The feather of the male has this like, dusting on it. That's what fertilizes the eggs. Her brother, Rayan, was a lot larger than her. Males usually are. I had to carry him on my back, while she can fit in my arms. Then... during an explosion, I was knocked out. And I don't know what happened to Rayan... I hope he's still alive. See, Rayan and Arcana are the like, kids of the leaders of the Griffins. They're royal. I have a spare feather, just to be safe. But... still. It hurts. I was there when they both hatched."

I looked at the ground, taking it all in. "No one else I know has gotten me to turn back into myself before." I commented. "Usually it takes hours."

"The King of Seishin wants to recruit me like they did with Kahn, but I didn't feel like it." I said. "They bred me for the war and latched me onto Daku's soul, but the war did not sound like a walk in the park."

ReplyDeleteA bomb exploded somewhere. I looked around tensely. The wind from the explosion blew my dusty brown hair out of my eyes.
"Where is it ever safe..."

I crawled through the mud and debris. Coughing as smoke engulfed me.
"A-aether...!"
I felt myself turning and gasped.

I looked towards the source of the bomb, my eyes glittering in annoyance.

I nodded "I understand. Never liked the war, I didn't like being forced into it, Ziron hadn't even hatched when they were training me to fight. I hated it, but Poe... I mentioned him, loved it, beat me up constently, saying he was 'practicing'"

"Oh." I said, back to myself. "I mean, who would want millions of lives ended? I mean, seriously!"

I'd like to meet them. Then, we could survive together. We could win.

I launched into the air, knowing the risk, but just wanting to get off the ground into fresh air. I took a deep breath as I entered the clean air above the clouds. It tasted clean. Now all I needed to do was find Arcana, and Aether. But, I doubt that would be possible. They could be dead. I choked on my thoughts, and quickly dodged a bullet that came speeding towards me. I wish I could go rip their heads off with my talons. I rocketed through the air, the wind lashing me. Then, I felt myself start to change. I gasped, and dove towards the ground. Aether would have said I was stupid. To be that high up when my changes were still so unpredictable. I agreed with him at that moment.

"And put a stop to this war." I said, and Kahn growled in outrage.

I slammed into the ground. A second after, I changed back. The only thing left to show that I was a Griffin was the wings. I gasped with the adrenaline rush I had gotten. My shoulders and neck hurt from the crash, but I was fine other than that.

For a moment, my mind threatened to give way to Kahn, but I tensed up.

I ran until the sounds of bombing were a little in the distance. I sat and panted, wondering what place this used to be.

I chuckled "Exact-" just then, there was a lous pop, and gray smoke rose from where my necklace has been. Ryder's spirit was shimmering in front of me. Then, it dissolved in the wind "B-but..." Tears formed in my eyes "He's dead." I put my hand to my throat, where a peice of shattered crystal had cut me. Blood slowly seeped through my fingers, but I was too numb to do anything.

I nodded "Yea." Ziron pressed his head against my wound and the bleeding stopped, leaving only a gash "A war." I said tearfully "Ends in death."

I smiled slightly.
"We need all info we can get."

I closed my eyes for one second, and when I opened them, the ground around my feet exploded and crumbled. I must have fallen asleep... ugh. I flew into the air, then I felt my body start to change, and I sighed thankfully. Before I hit the ground, I flew into the air, landing quickly again and running full speed away.

I looked up at the sky "This place will end up like Machi soon." I said.

I crashed through the undergrowth, hoping for a fight. I cried out loudly, hoping whatever was there would hear me.
:~~Rayan:

Roi nodded. "Alright." I said, sensing where Machi was.

I looked at the guards of the bomber aircraft, disarming the last two on the ship. Then I went the cockpit, seeing the captain. I didn't make a sound, but pressed my claws to the back of his neck, and he was out cold. I took a hold of the controls, feeling the aircraft lurch.
"You won't be hurting anymore people with this stupid war, anytime soon." I said to the machine.

"Oh, God." I said, realizing that the other aircrafts must've found out this one was hijacked, and started bombing it.

I felt a shudder, and the aircraft buried itself in the ground.
I wish I could just lie there, and wait to die. I had multiple bruises, and glass seemed to go through my fur and right into my skin. I limped out of the aircraft and ran as the inferno chased after me.

I don't want to fight, thats what I'm running from, and as long as I am with Ziron, none of us can truely be hurt fatally, the strength of a bond is more important than any weapon can withstand. I saw the knife miss, then I felt a sharp pain in my shoulder. My form changed to human and I cursed. I gripped my shoulder tightly, pulling out a stray arrow. The war was coming closer... I put my hand over the wound, trying to stop the blood flow.

We walked back to the Giffin and Akuma "You're not gonna fit in my bakpack..." I told Ziron

I was running, and suddenly another running figure crashed right into me.
My eyes widened.
A cat demon! I exclaimed in my head, and the cat demon took a step back, cautious. He had multiple pieces of glass stuck in him.
"Just crashed a bomb carrier.... epic." He panted.

I chuckled "I can't, he's growing. He grows after a certain period of time, he cant shrink again, soon, he'll be big enough to ride,"

I stopped when I heard a beeping sound. I looked at the tree I was standing on. There was a little metal device, beeping. I narrowed my eyes as I watched the numbers count down.

I snarled and leaped.

Then, the tree exploded. I was thrown through the air. I slammed into a tree, and went spiraling own, branches whipping my open wings and face. I felt myself hit the ground heavily, then, I didn't move.

Heat still spread through his body. His black body seemed even darker as soot covered him. Arcana trilled softly. A picture appeared in my head of Rayan. I nodded.

ReplyDeleteI picked him up. He was bigger then he had the last time I saw him, a lot bigger. Arcana climbed onto my back, and looked down at Rayan, making soft sounds of sorrow.

I stopped when the air got clear. I put him down, and Arcana licked his wounds gently. He was slightly breathing. I sighed and cleaned off his eyes, ears and mouth. Arcana then ran off and got some water. I poured it down his throat, and waited.

I coughed and opened my eyes. It was a lot bright then it had been when I fell. I looked to my right to see someone sitting against a tree, his eyes closed, wings slightly out. A small Griffin lay beside him. I gasped, and felt my body finally change. I struggled to sit up, my arms, legs and wings acing. It was really them. How long would our reunion last? Aether opened one eye, and gave a small, sly grin. My heart pounded.
