I wonder where we're heading.... I thought as I continued to race through the trees, wingless. I kept up the pace effortlessly with the others that were flying above.

I blinked open my eyes, ruffling my feathers. I glared at the chains that bound me, and in a surge of power, roared upwards, breaking free of the cage. I screeched and ripped off the muzzle, and I launched myself at Atlas' cage. I slammed into the bars as the small dragon backed away, his ice blue eyes wide.

ReplyDeleteI climbed on Ziron's back, patting his scaled neck "Hurry!" I shouted, as the metal bars Ziron had melted began to glow. Without a word, he took off, spraying the lizard men with flames as we broke through the castle's thick walls.
I shouted a few choice words to father, Poe and Ryder as we left, my bow was securely on my back fresh supplies in my backpack. We were finally free... for now.
"Where are we headed?"
Somewhere. Ziron replied. I rolled my eyes, taking out a mango and peeling it, hungrily, I ate it.
I heard my father's cry of "Fire!" from below, and I screamed.
From my chest, an arrow stood out. Blood... so much blood. I tried to breath but I felt like I was drowning. I began to fall through darkness... calling out names of anyone I knew... Daku... the Griffon... anyone. I didn't want to die.
More improtantly... I didn't want Ziron to die.

I stood up, putting my hand to my head, feeling the warm blood. "S-sora?" I cried out weakly, worried that my friend had died in the explosion

I quickly followed Rayan out of my cage. He seemed to be everywhere at once, a flying black demon, only set on killing.
ReplyDelete"Rayan! That's enough! We have to go!"
I stared at Rayan as he spun at me, his eyes filled with rage. He quickly regained himself and I nodded.
:~~Atlas:
"A-atlas! We have to find Adrastos!"
I screeched at Atlas, and saw the white dragon's eyes fill with relief that I was keeping my promise. Atlas burned a hole in the wall and we ran out, searching for the dragon rider.
:~~Rayan:
My eyes were filled with pain... Jackie's pain.
ReplyDeleteI sent out a mental message, frantically, praying for a savior... I caught her as she fell from my back and set her gently down on the foliage.
Help! Anyone... any dragon...
I gently pulled the arrow out and rested my head against her heart. It healed... but her spirit was breaking. She would soon become one of the lizard people if her spirit was not healed. And sadly... only another rider could do that.

I sniffed the air, searching for any sign of Adrastos' scent. I sighed, almost giving up.

I ran towards the strong scent that came to my nose. Atlas... Atlas... are you there?
"Adrastos!"
I broke through a wall with sheer force, and came to a room with many people chained up. Adrastos! I scanned the room, and Rayan fought off the guards, then, the one form. That familiar build.
"A-atlas..."
I ran to my partner, and tore his chains off.
"I found him Rayan!"
Rayan was working his way along, freeing all the people. Adrastos was weak, and couldn't even stand. I pressed my nose against his chest.
"Atlas. You're... alive."
I let out a deep rumble, feeling our souls repair after they had been ripped apart.

I watched as Adrastos and Atlas reunited. I looked away, longing for Aether and Arcana. I must find them again.
:~~Rayan:
I hissed as a spirit brushed past me Leave Ryder. She is as good as dead already.
ReplyDeleteThe spirit of a young man, his eyes a dark blue glinted "No she is not supposed to die like this!" his form became solid, and he ran his hand through his blonde hair.
I tried to hold in my disbalief as my enemy healed my rider, there was a sudden bright light and Ryder was gone, and Jackie stirred. His voice echoed in my mind Do not tell her Ziron. Keep her safe.
I knew I couldnt trust Ryder, but I also knew it would destroy Jackie to know he was alive. Without saying a word, I lifted her up on my back and spread my golden wings Thank you I told him, But this doesnt make up for anything.

I couldn't believe what I had just done. I was supposed to finish Jackie off... not save her. Poe would have my head.
"Sefey!" my albino dragon appeared in front of me, her eyes sparkling with knowledge
Ryder, you cannot still befriend that girl. As your guardian I forbid it. she closed her eyes They could kill you, for real this time
"Don't you think I know that?!" I growled, climbing onto her back.
You want to follow her... don't you?
I didn't say a word... I didnt have to. Sefey took off, following the golden glint of scales.

Adrastos wrapped his hands around my neck.
ReplyDelete"I was so worried Atlas. We have to leave immediately."
I nodded and helped Adrastos onto my back. He lay weakly on my small form. I wished right then I was larger, but this was my breed, and most dragons from where we come from are this size. I looked at Rayan.
"Are you going to come with us?"
Adrastos looked too, at the young Gryphon. Rayan stuttered.
"I... Uh yes. Thank-you."
He dipped his head, and I smiled. The young Gryphon was full of himself, but he wanted somewhere to belong until he found his family. I blasted another hole into the ship, and took off into the air, Adrastos gripping my tightly. But almost as soon as we left, we were blown backwards by a blast, and I saw many other dragons and people fighting. I gasped and avoided the flames and fought my way out.
:~~Atlas:
I followed close to the white dragon and his partner. I then gasped as I felt a jolt go through my body, and all of a sudden I was falling through the air. Human hands were flailing before me. How do I work these retched wings on this stupid human body!? I felt claws grip around my shoulders, and a voice whispered in my ear.
"It would do you better to not change at a time like this. But I guess I had to repay you for saving me."
I scowled at Atlas, and crossed my arms as he carried me.
"I'd rather have fallen to the ground!"
The dragon laughed, and let go of me. I yelped, my eyes widening in terror.
"Atlas!"
I heard Adrastos chuckle quietly and Atlas dived back down to grab me again. I muttered under my breath, cursing Atlas.

I heard a shout and turned around, my eyes wide. I saw a small white dragon, a Gryphon and a Rider. My heart racing with excitement, I dived,
ReplyDeleteMy fellow Dragon! Greetings! I blew a small flame into the air, a universal greeting. This dragon was rather small, but I think I recognized his type, they were a smaller breed.
Jackie stirred on my back "Ziron... where?"
Quiet, Dear Jackie I whispered, turning back to the dragon.

I narrowed my eyes, flying backwards. I hadn't seen a friendly greeting like this in a long time. Was it a trap?

My eyes widened. This was the same dragon and rider I had met before, back in the forest. I had wanted to fight then, to kill something, but they wouldn't fight. How did they get way out here?
:~~Rayan:
I got up, spotting Tao almost immediately.
ReplyDelete"We're both alive.. somehow." I said, looking up at the sky.
"We lost them again" I growled.
>Sora<
I looked down at ground of the forest below, and then at Aether.
He's got a point. What are we even going to do now?... I thought a lot, even though it only took me a second or two to answer my question.
We need to find more of those who are against the war, or are at least neutral... But then I remembered Rayan being missing.
"I'm not sure either... but I don't think our time is done in this forest. We need to find out where Rayan went off to, right?" I said, trying to maintain a more human form.
>Roi<
And maybe Jackie too.. I immediately thought, hearing what Roi had said.
I have no clue what happened to her..

A lone cat sat in the forest. Pitch black and streaked with a few scars, his green eyes flashed back and forth as if expecting something to emerge from the undergrowth. Indeed, it did, which was another cat.
I came to a clearing and found him there, and knew that I must report in.
Pretty lucky that you just so happened to tag along with one of the shadow demons. I heard his sneering voice in my head.
Not one, but both. I retorted, and the other cat's eyes widened in surprise.
Heading away from the forest, gathering other creatures to apparently 'put a stop' to the great war. I added after I let it sink in.
Yeah, sure. You don't listen to those senile old coots do you? The elders are mad! There's no 'prophecy' and you know it. He shot back.
I heard them talking about it myself. What a group they had formed there. Cat demon trash, and a couple of griffins. I told him.
How revolting. He thought back.
Oh yes, Baka. I know. I agreed, and he vanished, already heading off to Seishin.
>Shi<
I rubbed my throbbing head "I say we let those two go, we'd never be able to kill them anyways.. ." I looked around "Where... are we?"

I smiled "I'm Ziron, this is my Rider, Jackie... we're kinda lost and were wondering if we could come along?" he flapped his wings in excitement, showing quite obviously how young he was

I snorted.

Could this be a trap Adrastos? He shifted his weight, still obviously weak. I don't know. We just need to get out of here.
:~~Atlas/Adrastos:
I rolled my eyes.
"Let the stupid dragon come along. They're against the war."
:~~Rayan:
I huffed indignantly "I am no dragon to laugh at." he narrowed his eyes at the group "Are you against Riders? Against unlocking your true potential?"

I laughed.
ReplyDelete"True potential doesn't come from having a rider. It's from having a partner. You may think riders and Partner's are the same, but they are different. Riders are shunned in my country."
Adrastos stroked my neck slightly, and sat up.
"So you're a rider?"
:~~Atlas/Adrastos:
I nodded.
"I have to find him. He's my duty."
:~~Aether:
"You must come from a different country then... Riders and Dragons share an unbreakable bond. One dies, so does the other, with the right connection, we can move as one. We can heal eachother. Share thoughts." I said, sitting up on Ziron "Z and I have the strongest connection in millenia. Can you say the same thing with 'partners'?"
ReplyDeleteI pushed my hair back "If you wish to 'shun' me, Z and I will be on our way. Just remember you made a very dangerous enemy. But first, where I come from... before this war broke out and they were corrupted by evil, it was taught that nothing was stronger than a connection between rider and dragon."
I was slightly offended by this dragon's ignorance, but I stayed to listen, fully aware of the setting sun... dad would be after me soon.

"Partners share a bond from birth.We are usually born on the same day, if not the same day then a day or two apart. We are soul bond from the moment we come into the world."
ReplyDeleteI narrowed my eyes. Atlas, they seem to be of no harm. Don't be so rude. I flicked my tail, fully aware of the battle coming closer.
:~~Atlas:
"We use the term 'partner' instead of 'rider' where I come from. We find the word 'Partner' resembles a more close bond, as we work together. Atlas here just gets easily offended. Though I fully know 'rider' and 'partner' are pretty much the same, just different terms."
Riders control their dragons! It's not a sign of companionship at all! I sighed. Hush, Atlas. We were taught many different variations of riders. Some may be controlling, but your friend Rayan said these two can be trusted. And I know Riders and Partners are different, very different. But they are also similar with beliefs. You have to remember that Atlas.
"We don't wish to make more enemies, and this young Gryphon says you can be trusted. My name is Adrastos, and this is my partner, Atlas."
I winced slightly and blood ran down my arm. I reached behind my shoulder and pulled out an arrow.

I muttered. I don't even get an acknowledgment.
:~~Rayan:
I winced, I could tell by the expression on the dragon's face he didn't like us "What have you heard about riders?"

Letting my rider speak, I turned to Rayan Who are you? I asked, tilting my head

I snorted.
ReplyDelete"That they control dragons. They have a bond, but the rider is the one in control."
I narrowed my eyes.
"I don't like riders."
:~~Atlas:
I sighed.
"When we were young, we were attacked by riders and dragons when we were out alone. They were from a different country, and most definitly called themselves "riders". I almost died, so he dislikes riders."
I felt Atlas glaring at me.
:~~Adrastos:
"Figures you don't remember. You only saw me when I was human for a second. I wanted to fight your rider. Ring a bell?"
:~~Rayan:
I nodded Yea. thought that was you. I was just growing then....

( nodded "Oh yea, I've met some of those. My father is like that. Luckily, I was raised by my mother. I was taught that the bond makes us equal. We move as one, connected by spirits."
I sighed "But that's exactly why we should be going. Unless your eager to meet some of them again."

I nodded.

I stroked Atlas's neck.

I grumbled.
"Fine, let's just travel with the rider. Just grand."
I muttered under my breath.

"Ya, that's cool. Growing is dandy."
:~~Rayan:
"I guess in whatever's left of this part of the forest." I said, cracking my neck.

I nodded. "First we have to turn back to where we came from, retrace our footsteps, I guess."

I winced.

I looked at Aether, his eyes showing true pain. We'll find Rayan. He won't die that easily.

(Loll Arcana, Aether, Adrastos, Atlas, and Rayan. Rayan is the odd one out, all my other characters have names that start with 'A' XD )
"Wanna go find some food, I'm beat." I yawned

"A place far away. It's a secret, where I come from. But somehow, it was leaked and we were attacked."

"I was captured, and I met Atlas in the cages. I got out somehow, and saved him."
I narrowed my eyes.

"That sounds good to me." I patted Ziron's neck "You ready to go Z?"

"Do you know anywhere to go?" I asked, looking behind me, no sign of father. Yet I knew that he would find me, he always did.
ReplyDeleteSomething was still bothering me, the Riders and the Partners. Adrastos and Atlas obviously had something against Riders. Against the "Shadow Riders" as my mother had called them.
She often told me a story about a fair maiden who had fallen in love with a Shadow Rider prince. The king, who had ruled his kingdom in peace, teaching them that their dragons were equals, knew that his only son was corrupt but upon the death of his wife, he could not bring himself to banish the boy.
This was his mistake. One night, the king grew feverish and delirious. He would shout about his son, screaming that he must be killed. He then died, leaving the Shadow Rider to become king.
Still, the fair Queen was blind to the New King's evil. She even gave him an heir, a boy. Years later, the kingdom was full of Shadow Riders. All others who talked of equality with their dragons were publicly punished, then hanged.
It was only until five years had passed that the Queen realized what her husband had become. She ran deep into the woods, not really going anywhere. After she had been running for days, she was starving, hungry and tired. She was also expecting another child.
A small village saw her running, and not knowing of the Evil Kingdom so many miles away, welcomed her. But still, this village knew nothing about dragons and the egg had arrived the day the girl was born. She said goodbye and ventured further to a small cottage where she had lived before meeting the Shadow Rider.
It was secluded and she was able to raise and train her daughter. Yet, she lived in fear that the girl's father would one day find them, and take her beloved daughter.
And that was exactly what happened. Jackie knew the story was about her father. He was the "Shadow King." After he had kidnapped her, Z was still too small to be ridden, thought what he didnt know, was that they could communicate. An ability long lost since they had become Shadow Riders. Ziron and Jackie stayed up late in her tower, scheming for their escape. When the war broke out, they managed it. With a boy, whom she had trusted. Who had betrayed her.
Jackie knew that Atlas and Adrastos probably resented her. Hated her kind, since there were barely any good Riders now. But she just didnt want to be alone anymore. She and Z needed help, and quickly.

"I guess" I said, shrugging my shoulders when a hiss sounded from behind me.
ReplyDelete"Long time no see, Baka." I grumbled, trying to keep the contempt out of my voice.
I turned around to see a slender dark figure standing in the shade, his arms crossed.
"I see you have a goatee. Nice." I sneered.
"I see you haven't fufilled the task you were created to do. Splendid." Baka replied.
>Sora<
"Well what do you suggest we do?" I said, my mind clouding as sidetracked whilst thinking of an answer to my own question. I thought of the mixtures of chemicals in my head that I use to work with before I became this experiment. Thinking of my past consisted of mainly bright flares and explosions, yet I choose to dwell. I remembered when my pyromania went to far, and staring at the charred remains of my home, and the residents within it.
I shook my head before the weakening emotions kicked in, and Kahn muttered in my head.
Weak fool...
"We could bomb something." I blurted out, dazed.
>Roi<
I narrowed my eyes, looking at Sora curiously, but I remained silent. Whoever this was, Sora somehow knew him.

"So this must be Tao." I jeered. Sora rolled his eyes.
ReplyDelete"So what do the elders of Seishin want now?" Sora asked sarcastically. "Destroy more fire sprites as well? Conquer another city? I'm off duty today." He said, leaning against the charred remains of a tree.

ReplyDeleteI winced at the accusing tone in my voice. If this guy was an elder, the last thing I wanted to do was make him angry.

Patting Atlas absentmindedly, I sighed. So much had gone wrong.
:~~Adrastos:
I still hung from Atlas' claws, but then feeling another jolt run through me, I struggled out of the white dragons claws. Falling briefly, I pulled myself back up as a Gryphon. Shaking my head and stretching my legs, I sighed in relief.
"I'm so glad to be back in this body."
Though I knew it may not last, and I could turn again at any time.
:~~Rayan:
My interest pricked, and I looked at Roi.
"Bomb something? You know stuff about bombs?"
I still didn't know where we would go. We needed to find some place that was safe, but everywhere seemed to be destroyed.
:~~Aether:
I nodded "Okay, I suppose our best bet is to head away from the heavier parts of the battlefield. Maybe we'll find some shelter."

I grinned. "How could I not?" I said, turning to Sora.
ReplyDelete"And no, there's only one task at hand, and I see you haven't completed it." I looked at both of them, then walked away on all fours, my tail vanishing into to charred undergrowth.

"I'm a pyromaniac." I said reluctantly. I glanced in the general direction of Seishin. "I could destroy most of a country if I wanted. But what good would that do? I don't like accidents." I rambled.

I looked at Sora, utterly confused "And what task is that?"
